Concrete Sleeper Product Warranty

25-year limited concrete sleeper warranty

Outwest Sleepers provides this additional warranty for eligible concrete sleepers manufactured by Outwest Sleepers and used in Australia. It covers manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship that affect structural performance when the sleepers are installed in accordance with the approved design and applicable product specifications.

The warranty lasts for 25 years from the original installation date, supported by reasonable evidence of purchase and installation.

Product specifications and eligibility

Our concrete sleepers use 40MPa concrete and two N12 reinforcing bars. Refer to the relevant product page for dimensions and applicable specifications.

To qualify for this additional warranty, the sleepers must be used for their intended purpose, handled and stored correctly, installed and maintained in accordance with our instructions, and used in a design suitable for the site conditions, soil, surcharge, fence loads and exposure. Required engineering, approvals and applicable laws must be followed. Suitable drainage must be installed and maintained.

A published sleeper rating does not determine the required steel post size, spacing or footing design. These must be established by the approved design. This warranty covers the supplied sleepers; it is not a warranty for the entire retaining wall, engineering design or installation services.

What this additional warranty does not cover

This additional warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by:

Incorrect handling, storage, installation or maintenance.
Unapproved cutting, drilling or other modification.
Loads or uses outside the approved design.
Inadequate drainage or foundations, or ground movement.
Misuse, impact damage or the acts of customers or third parties.
Exposure outside the product's specified suitability.

Normal weathering, efflorescence, colour variation or surface changes alone are not manufacturing defects. These exclusions do not exclude our responsibilities under the Australian Consumer Law.

Warranty remedy

For an accepted manufacturing defect under this additional warranty, we will repair or replace the affected sleepers. We will make reasonable efforts to match the finish, although an exact match may not be possible because of weathering, production variation or discontinued finishes. Replacement sleepers receive the remaining term of the original additional warranty. Your Australian Consumer Law rights are unaffected.

How to make a claim

Contact Outwest Sleepers promptly after discovering an issue using the details below. Provide your order number or proof of purchase, installation date and site address, photographs and a description of the issue. Include relevant drawings, approvals and installation records where available.

We may request reasonable access to inspect the affected goods. Please discuss removal or disposal with us before doing so, unless immediate action is necessary for safety.

Claim expenses

For an accepted manufacturing defect, Outwest Sleepers will cover reasonable assessment costs and the agreed warranty remedy. Contact us before incurring transport, removal or other expenses so arrangements can be agreed. Provide receipts for agreed reimbursements. This does not limit any right to compensation under the Australian Consumer Law.

Steel and accessories

The 25-year concrete sleeper warranty does not apply to steel or accessories. Any applicable manufacturer's warranty will be provided where available, in addition to your Australian Consumer Law rights.

Australian Consumer Law

The benefits provided by this warranty are in addition to your other rights and remedies under the Australian Consumer Law.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
